When people find out I specialize in the Caribbean, Mexico, and Costa Rica, sometimes the first reaction is: only those destinations? What if I want to go somewhere else?
It is a fair question. And the more you understand why I work this way, the more I think you will see it as a feature rather than a limitation.
The Problem With Knowing a Little About Everything
There are travel advisors who will book you anywhere. A safari in Tanzania, a river cruise through France, a family trip to Costa Rica, a Sandals honeymoon, a Disney vacation, a tour of Japan. All in the same month.
The technical ability to book a trip to any destination is real. The knowledge required to book that trip well is a different question entirely.
Knowing a destination means knowing which months to avoid and why, not just the general weather pattern but the specific considerations for your type of travel. It means knowing which resort's swim-up rooms are genuinely worth the upgrade and which ones are beautiful in photos but consistently disappoint. It means knowing which excursion company is excellent and which one is a tourist assembly line. It means knowing which beach has seaweed issues in August, which property just completed a renovation, and which one is quietly showing its age in ways that do not appear in the marketing photos.
That level of knowledge develops over years, through a combination of firsthand travel, deep supplier relationships, and accumulated feedback from real clients who came back and told you honestly how it went. It does not develop from booking one or two trips to a destination per year.
When a generalist books your trip to Jamaica, they may be working from the same brochure you could pull up on a resort website. When a specialist books your trip to Jamaica, they are drawing on years of nuanced, real-world knowledge about that destination specifically. If Jamaica is on your radar, the Jamaica family vacation guide covers what families actually experience on the ground.
Why I Chose These Destinations
I did not choose the Caribbean, Mexico, and Costa Rica arbitrarily. I chose them because they consistently deliver for the kind of client I serve: busy families and couples who want a genuinely exceptional vacation without the complexity of long-haul international travel, significant jet lag, or navigating a completely unfamiliar logistical environment.
These destinations offer world-class all-inclusive experiences at a luxury level. They have manageable flight times from most of the US, which matters significantly when you are traveling with kids or have a limited number of vacation days. They offer extraordinary variety within the category, from ultra-private boutique resorts to large family-focused properties to adventure-heavy destinations like Costa Rica that are unlike anything you will find in an all-inclusive brochure.
Critically, these are destinations I know deeply. Not in a surface-level research way. In a have-placed-dozens-of-clients-and-gotten-real-feedback way. In a know-the-general-managers-and-preferred-contacts way. In a can-tell-you-what-will-happen-if-something-goes-wrong way.
What Deep Specialization Gets You
When you work with a specialist, the benefit is not just convenience. It is precision.
You do not get a list of ten resorts that might work for your family. You get a specific recommendation for the one that fits your travel style, your budget, the ages of your kids, and what you actually want the trip to feel like. You do not have to hope the room category you booked is what you imagined. I know which categories are worth it and which ones to pass on.
I also know the questions to ask you that you would not think to ask yourself, because I have seen enough of these trips to know what makes them extraordinary and what makes them fall flat.
The relationships I have built with the properties I work with matter more than people typically realize. When I email a general manager before a client arrives to note a celebration or a dietary restriction or a special request, the response is different than a cold email from someone who has never sent a client to that property before. Those relationships translate into real attention for my clients.
When I Am Not the Right Fit
I will be direct about this. If you are dreaming of a Mediterranean river cruise, a safari in Africa, or an extended trip through Southeast Asia, I am not the right person for that trip. I would rather tell you that clearly than give you an experience that falls short of what someone who truly knows those destinations could provide.
What I can tell you is that if your trip involves the Caribbean, Mexico, or Costa Rica and you want it done right, you are in the right place. I take on a limited number of clients per year specifically so that every one of them receives the level of attention that produces the kind of trip they will be talking about long after the tan fades.
