Mexico Vacations — More Than All-Inclusive
Mexico is one of the most misunderstood travel destinations I plan. Most people think "Cancún" and picture spring break crowds and frozen margaritas. While Cancún absolutely offers that if you want it, the full picture of the Yucatan Peninsula is so much richer — and so much more interesting.
My clients have swum in underground cavern cenotes where sunlight filters through the rock ceiling like something from another world. They've eaten at a restaurant built inside a natural cave. They've stood at the base of Chichén Itzá at dawn before the tourist buses arrive. They've come home saying it was the best trip they've ever taken.
I'm Erika Griffin, founder of Espoke Travel, and I specialize in Mexico vacation planning that goes beyond the resort — while still honoring the fact that a great all-inclusive is one of the best ways to truly relax. I know which resorts deliver on their promises, which excursion companies are ethical and safe, and how to build an itinerary that balances pure relaxation with genuinely unforgettable experiences.
The classic Mexico gateway. Home to some of the most impressive all-inclusive resorts in the world, excellent beaches, and the widest range of price points. Perfect for families and groups who want maximum resort amenities.
Playa del Carmen, Akumal, and the jungle coastline south toward Tulum. More intimate than Cancún, with easier cenote access, incredible biodiversity, and resorts set within jungle and beachfront settings.
Boutique eco-hotels, jungle-to-beach architecture, open-air cenote swimming, and one of the most photogenic Mayan ruins sites in Mexico perched above the Caribbean.
Natural sinkholes filled with crystal-clear freshwater — some open to the sky, others inside stunning cave systems. Chichén Itzá, Cobá, and Tulum ruins round out a Yucatan itinerary that no other destination can match.
Mexico All-Inclusive Resorts — What to Know Before You Book
Mexico has one of the most competitive all-inclusive resort landscapes in the world. There are genuinely exceptional properties — and there are resorts that look five-star in photos and feel very different in person. Here's what I help my Mexico clients navigate:
Room categories that actually matter — In many Mexican all-inclusives, the gap between the base room and the club-level or suite category is enormous. I know which upgrades are worth the price.
Adults-only vs. family resorts — Mexico has outstanding options for both, and they are very different experiences. I match couples to the right adult-only properties and families to resorts that genuinely cater to kids.
Resort size and feel — A 1,500-room mega-resort in Cancún and a 300-room boutique in Riviera Maya can both be 'all-inclusive' but feel completely different. I help clients understand which atmosphere fits their vacation personality.
Beach access realities — Some Cancún resort 'beachfronts' are narrower or more crowded than photos suggest. I know which properties have genuinely wide, beautiful beach access year-round.
Mexico Experiences You Can't Book on Expedia
The best experiences in Mexico aren't on any booking website. They're found through relationships and local knowledge.
Mexico for Families
Mexico is an exceptional family destination when it's planned well. The best all-inclusive resorts for families in Cancún and Riviera Maya offer supervised kids' clubs for different age groups, lazy rivers and multiple pools, family-friendly excursions, and enough adult amenities that parents actually relax too.
For families with older kids (8+), the cultural experiences in Mexico are genuinely educational and captivating. Climbing the ruins at Cobá, swimming in a cave cenote for the first time, and watching the iguanas wander around Tulum ruins creates the kind of travel memories that kids carry into adulthood.
Mexico for Couples & Honeymoons
Adults-only all-inclusive resorts in Mexico are some of the most romantic vacation experiences available anywhere. The Riviera Maya in particular has a collection of boutique adults-only properties with private plunge pools, jungle-canopy views, and beach clubs that feel like a different world.
For honeymoons, I pay close attention to every detail — the right room with the right view, romantic dinner reservations at the resort's best restaurant, a private cenote excursion, and a sunset catamaran cruise. Mexico is one of the most affordable luxury honeymoon destinations available.
How I Plan Your Mexico Vacation
My concierge planning process covers everything from the moment we speak to the moment you land back home:
Step 1: Discovery Call — We talk about your dream Mexico trip. Who's going, what you want to feel, your budget, and what past vacations have taught you about what you love.
Step 2: Custom Proposal — I research and curate a personalized trip proposal — specific resort, room category, flights, excursion recommendations, and a day-by-day itinerary framework.
Step 3: Refine & Book — We adjust until every detail feels right, then I handle all bookings and logistics. You receive a complete travel document before your departure.
Step 4: On-Trip Support — I'm available during your trip. If anything isn't right, I handle it directly so you don't have to.
Step 5: Welcome Home — A handwritten note in your mailbox when you return. Because the best travel relationships are built over many trips, not just one.
